The Nevada Department of Corrections is responsible for the transport and housing of all convicted criminals in the state of Nevada. With 11 prisons housing nearly 13,000 inmates Nevada's prison system is one of the most well run systems in the nation. Nevada has a great and colorful history in terms of their prison system, with influences from places like Las Vegas and setting a nation precedent when the first execution was carried out at Nevada state prison, Nevada has had a dry moment when dealing with the prison system. However, over time all things change and with the recent closure of Nevada state prison a new chapter has opened in the history books.
